Shannon Flynn is a Registered Psychologist, licensed with the College of Alberta Psychologists. She has specialized training to practice within the areas of Clinical/Counselling Psychology and Rehabilitation Psychology.
Her formal education includes a Bachelors degree in Psychology, with a focus on neurobiological underpinnings of human behaviour, and a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology. Her Masters clinical training focused on concussion and brain injury rehabilitation, including strategies for improving cognition. Her Masters research concentrated on biopsychosocial factors in brain injury recovery. Shannon’s residency training and clinical experience centred on neurophysiological processes underlying injury rehabilitation, chronic pain, stress, depression, and anxiety.
Shannon has 19 years of combined training and clinical practice in psychology. She has specialized training in the fields of brain health and chronic pain. She also has a general psychological practice in assessing and treating anxiety, depression, and insomnia in otherwise healthy individuals.
Shannon spends much of her leisure time engaged in endurance-related outdoor pursuits including road cycling, rock climbing and alpinism, and backcountry ski touring, to name a few. When life absolutely requires her to stay in the city, she spends her time exploring the city’s parks on foot or bicycle, gardening, and practicing yoga.
